In Romania, February 15 was established as the National Reading Day. This day aims to promote the pleasure of reading and encourage young people, as well as adults, to read.
For the students, numerous activities were organized depending on the school.
National Reading Day also has historical significance. On February 15, two important cultural personalities of Romania were born. These two personalities are the politician and literary critic Titu Maiorescu, who was also the founder of the literary society Junimea, and Spiru Haret, a renowned mathematician and Minister of Education.
